We are all essentially the same, which is why we must respect our differences. As we go about making sense of our world, the ways in which we’re different inevitably dissolve into a recognition of sameness – life experience keeping us in oscillation, back and forth. In our explanation of the Aphorism of Respect, for Groups, we identified this fundamental dialectic of the ‘other’ as a positive and clear regard for another besides oneself. At Magic-Flight, these powerful insights guide our deliberate efforts to engage our customers and each other – as a community.
Our Premium Launch Box line features wood styles that have been chosen for their uniqueness and exquisite natural beauty. Cherry and Walnut woods are an exciting addition to the Launch Box line, traditionally these trees are used far less often in woodworking applications than their more popular counterparts, Maple and Pine. These Premium Boxes are cut and shaped by hand with the highest quality Select Grade A lumber in our wood shop by our line of gifted artisans. These delicate woods require the utmost care and attention during the shaping process and are of a higher caliber than our typical Maple Box. Soil, wind, sun and seasons all have an impact on the look and character of the wood. Please make note that due to these natural and distinctive qualities, there will be a wide range of hues and variances between each individual Premium Launch Box. If you are really wanting something unique take a look at our Curly Maple Bare box in Connoisseurs Club…only a few more of these left and then they are gone forever.
One of our favorite things about traveling to trade shows each month is the time we get to spend visiting the local smoke shops and meeting the people who educate their customers about our products. In addition to the good memories we walk away with, we always enjoy asking the question of what we as a company can do to help make shop owners lives easier. The variety of feedback we get and insights into peoples businesses is always fascinating, but something that constantly came up was our little postcard, that we affectionately call the educard, a 4×6 postcard containing product information. We loved hearing that this was something that enables shop owners to breath easier in their lives, so we took it to the next level, creating this 4 fold brochure outlining all the features of our most beloved product, the Launch Box. Our shipping team needed a way to distinguish between the old postcard (the edu-card) and the new expanded brochure, and the name “The Edu-Bro” was born.
We appreciate your interest in reading our little sneak peek into the inner workings around Magic-Flight Head Quarters in San Diego, California. Here is some love from our customers we would like to share with you;
“Thanks for such customer-centric customer service. I praise Magic Flight to all my friends & associates, even advocating to those who don’t vape. The brilliance & simplicity of your Launch Box is complimented by the integrity of your business.”
“Thank you for loving what you do!
Thank you for keeping us healthy for more love & life!
The Magic Flight Company and Products are awesome!”
“Just wanted to drop you guys a line and thank you for the MFLB. This was my first dry herb vaporizer and after a few months of ownership, I can’t think of a good reason to get anything different. I have to say that I really prefer ‘analog’ devices to digital in general. So the entire philosophy behind the Launch Box is right up my alley. I have lived here in San Diego for about 20 years, so I feel like I have a ‘feel’ for the city and this is it. A little wood box that heats up my herbs and calms my mind after a day at the office. So thanks for the analog love. Keep up the good work!”
May the Fourth….a sci-fi lovers favorite day in May. The idea of the force is a fantastical dream but we might need all the hope we ever could imagine if Baba Vanga’s 2033 prediction comes to fruition. However, although global warming might be smacking us in our faces in 2033 take comfort in knowing Baba Vanga’s world doesn’t end for thousands of years from now.
“The trains will start flying in 2018. They will be powered by the Sun. Earth will take a rest since they will stop extracting oil.”
Baba Vanga (1911-1996) was a blind Bulgarian mystic, clairvoyant, healer, and herbalist who spent most of her life in the Rupite area in the Kozhuh mountains. She went blind at the age of 12 after being swept away by a tornado and found after a long search with her sight failing due to the sand and dust in her eyes. Her extraordinary powers were said to come from her ability to see invisible creatures.
She has been widely credited with foreseeing:
- Obama’s presidency (that the 44th US president would be black), though she also said he’d be the last president;
- the Twin Tower terrorist attacks (“Horror, horror! The American brethren will fall after being attacked by the steel birds. The wolves will be howling in a bush, and innocent blood will be gushing”);
- the tragic death of Princess Diana (“The last son of the man with the Prophet’s name Will bring Diana to her day of rest. At a distance they wander in frenetic grief Delivering a great people from ruin.”)
She also warned that in 2023 the Earth’s orbit would change and that by 2033, the polar ice would melt and oceans around the world will rise. It has been estimated that 80% of her predictions have come true. Believers and skeptics alike can take some comfort though then, that according to Baba Vanga the end of the world won’t happen until 5079.
While we cannot guarantee that vision of the future will come, we at Magic-Flight believe in our sustainable path carrying us into the future and looking to the force for inspiration.

“If you’re going to scream, scream with me. Moments like this never last.” ~ The Misfits, Hybrid Moments
Yep, that’s right. We just quoted the Misfits because, well, we are having a moment here at headquarters. We are just so filled with joy to to hold, in our hands, something that we have been dreaming of making available to you for quite some time. Moments like this bring our our inner-children and, apparently, their musical preferences as well!
Meet the Monocle Edition Launch Box, which is a hybrid – a cross-breed between the Steam Punk style of the Muad-dib Concentrate Box, and the Launch Box‘s full mesh screen for loose herbal materials. Between the continuous requests from all of you, and the persistence of our lead engineer, everything has come together to push this potential product to the top of our priority list.
“I’d love to see a regular Launch Box with this [Muad-dib’s] design.”
“I would be really interested in a new MFLB design that has the steampunk look of the Muad-dib. Some brass, a magnifying lens and maybe a dark wood finish. That would be awesome.”
“Any idea if they are going to make a regular box (for flowers) with this new style? I love the design of this box and mine is getting old. I’ve been considering getting a new walnut box, but I would actually like one of these better… if it were made for flowers like the others. Please tell me this is coming!”
“Ask magic flight and maybe they will.”
“Done. I emailed them. Hopefully they’ve already got plans!”
We had a few functional changes to make, including removing the air inlet route to prevent herb from spilling out when the box is shaken to redistribute materials. We also had to account for the fact that the monocle lid naturally allows the right amount of air into the box without the need for an additional entry point.
We hope you enjoy the Monocle Edition Launch Box. It’s classy, it’s premium, and it can be yours while supplies last! Click here for more details.
Have you ever been told that something was impossible, only to discover that, in fact, it was not? Have you ever achieved a goal that you originally thought you were incapable of achieving? Most likely, we have all had this experience at least once in our lives. So, let us ponder what makes the seemingly-impossible become possible. We’ve seen it in our own accomplishments and in those of others. We see it in nature and we see it in ourselves. This ability to thrive when it seems least likely to do so inspires us to want to succeed even more. But where does this ability stem from?
In nature, it is mainly attributed to adaptability. Take, for example, the crocus flower and the snowdrop. Winter months can bring some of the least inhabitable climate conditions, causing most plants to remain dormant under the snow, yet these two flowers actually prefer to bloom in it. In fact, the crocus requires at least a month and a half of freezing temperatures to blossom, and the snowdrop uses its own heat to melt the snow around it, thus empowering itself to flourish in a frozen field. These two winter bloomers found a way to make an inhospitable environment hospitable for them, a natural phenomenon which, in turn, motivates us to do the same.
So, how do we as humans adapt to our environment? The answer is far more complex than simply bundling up to go out in the cold, as we are not only adapting to nature, but also to our interpersonal surroundings. Our adaptability involves acquiring a variety of knowledge and skills, creating tools, utilizing resources, being aware of our own values, strengths and limitations, and applying it all to how we interact with our environment. If we move to a foreign country, we learn their language. If we find ourselves surrounded by clashing values, we attempt to understand them and find common ground. If we find ourselves in crisis, we tap into helpful resources and rely on our strength and courage to get through it. Adaptability, for us, generally refers to a reaction to change. However, in terms of self-empowerment, one must not only be reactive, but also proactive in order to accomplish the seemingly-impossible.
When we consider what it means to be proactive, the idea of not just reacting to change in our environment, but actually initiating it, comes to mind. Initiating change requires a certain level of gumption, a desire for improvement, and the ability to recognize if, when, and how change would be optimal. Again, acquiring new knowledge and skills may be in order, as well as improving upon strengths and limitations, and our values will remain part of the theme throughout. When going after that dream job, one must seek the education and training necessary to excel at it. Most would regard climbing Mt. Everest to be an inconceivable feat, but with the proper resources, training and equipment, that mountain peak is totally within reach. Of course, hope, optimism, and the inclination for personal growth are also key factors. Without them, the impossible often remains as such.
So, when it comes to taking charge of our own lives, going after what we want, and achieving goals we didn’t know we could, it is important to recognize just how capable we actually are. Dreams really are attainable and we can achieve anything we set our minds to. Once we have the desire and skill sets necessary to empower ourselves, anything is possible.
Self-empowerment, especially that of the flowers, was part of the inspiration behind our new Flora Coryphee Launch Box. This whimsical piece’s laser-etched, floral design is an intricate blend of Art Deco and Art Nouveau, and features a silver-lined inset of genuine Labradorite, a stone believed to boost enthusiasm and stimulate imagination. Check out Flora Coryphee in our Artisan Collection, and ponder which seemingly-impossible dream you will accomplish next.
In 2014, we reached out to our Canadian brothers and sisters in the vaporizer movement, visiting over 40 different head shops and other organizations in person to connect and meet our fellow North Americans. It is truly inspiring to see that our Canadian family is so intelligent, technologically savvy, and well informed as to the myriad benefits of vaporizing. The number of shops where the Launch Box and other accessories can be found north of the border continues to grow.
As this web evolves, it has become one of the main ways we stay in touch and see what unfolds once our products leave the wood shop. For example, we want to send out a Thank You to Thomas Manson for sharing this moment with us, captioned simply “Happy New Years Eve from Canada”. The famed Canadian Goose pictured above is highly adaptable and has proven to be quite successful at living in human-altered environments. They are also known to be “herbivorous” (and prone to begging!). We hope Mr. Manson doesn’t mind sharing, or inter-species friendships, as we all know how passing the Launch Box to others tends to result in the making of lifelong friends!
As nature lovers, we often find ourselves feeling extremely lucky to have found a home for ourselves in San Diego, CA, where getting away from it all is never more than a few hours’ drive away. Anza Barrego Desert, Lake Cuyumaca, Mt. Laguna, Mission Trails, Joshua Tree, The Salton Sea, Tecolote Canyon Nature Reserve… the list goes on! We know we have far more than our fair share of beauty to take in, and we try to share some of that joy with all of you any chance we get.
On our most recent adventure, we were able to mix business and pleasure, spending an afternoon out in the fresh air and sunshine at Filaree Meadow, on Mount Laguna, just an hour and a half east of our headquarters.
Mount Laguna is located at almost 6,000 feet above sea level at the edge of the Cleveland National Forest. With a population of less than 70 people, Mount Laguna as a destination consists of a small general store, rustic lodge and cabins, local restaurant, rural post office, and campgrounds adjacent to the Pacific Crest Trail. On the day of our visit back in October, the light was perfect, and we were able to find a few really special spots to enjoy and showcase our vaporizers in the Great Outdoors. We look forward to seeing your favorite places to enjoy your Launch Box! Share by tagging your photos at #mfvapespot #mflb #mflblove
“A mountain is composed of tiny grains of earth. The ocean is made up of tiny drops of water. Even so, life is but an endless series of little details, actions, speeches, and thoughts. And the consequences, whether good or bad, of even the least of them are far-reaching.” ~ Swami Sivananda
We Magic-Flighters are pretty fortunate to live here in sunny San Diego, a colorful place full of natural wonders. Whether we are hiking in the mountains, camping in the desert, or strolling down the beach, we can’t help but appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds us. Within this beauty, we find Sacred Geometry all around, in plants and animals alike. From the smallest atom to the vast and infinite universe, these geometric laws that create everything in existence remind us of how we are all connected to each other and to nature.
Also known as the Language of Light, Sacred Geometry is often understood as a worldview of pattern recognition, in which all basic patterns of existence are considered divine. Such patterns are just as mesmerizing as they are meaningful, and they have inspired art, architecture, music, and countless schools of thought for centuries. As we explore through nature in its many forms, we see these patterns in the hexagons of snowflakes, in the leaf arrangements of plants, in the spirals of nautilus shells, and in, well, everything!
Naturally, since we San Diegans live so close to the coast, we are inclined to seek out sacred patterns under the sea as well. The ecosystem of San Diego’s ocean is very unique, with astounding biodiversity and a wide variety of under-water habitats in which Sacred Geometry can be recognized. If you were to go diving off the coast of La Jolla Shores, you would find some of the most wondrous sea life native to this area. One such creature, the California two-spot octopus, can be found about 60 feet deep at Vallecitos Point, dwelling in the coral and crevices along the canyon’s ledges. Their dens are often found by looking for piles of crustacean shells, as their diet mainly consists of lobster and crab, although they also enjoy small fish and abalone.
While several types of octopus can grow as large as fourteen to thirty feet long, the California two-spot octopus is actually quite small, only about three-and-a-half feet long when fully grown. At rest, their coloring is that of a mottled brown, with a vibrant, blue occellus (false eye spot) under each eye. However, one of their most amazing characteristics is that they are capable of changing their color and texture to blend with their habitat. This chameleon-like feature, along with their ability to eject a cloud of ink and jet away, is a rather fascinating mode of protection from various predators such as sea lions, moray eels, and leopard sharks. Furthermore, an arm lost in an unfortunate encounter with a predator can be regenerated – yet another attribute that makes this species so extraordinary. Octopi are also renowned for their intelligence, and the California two-spot octopus is no exception. Should you choose to have one as a pet, beware. They are very crafty escape artists, using their tentacles to turn screws and lift tank lids. Octopi, in general, are truly fascinating creatures. It is really no wonder as to why they would serve, in both form and function, to inspire our most recent addition to the Artisan Collection.
The design for the Rocktopus Launch Box is really quite unique, with bold, symmetrical features, and an intense blend of biological and spiritual nature. When asked about the inspiration behind Rocktopus, the artisan who designed it replied, “Well, we were talking about doing a new line to evolve the Sacred Geometry theme, and organic shapes came to mind. I started thinking about geometry in nature, particularly brain coral, which I had an obsession with a couple of years ago, because it looks so awesome and is fun to paint. So I was researching online, just looking at images for inspiration, and I found one with an octopus poking out of some coral. Octopi are geometric and organic at the same time! Also, they are fun to draw.”
So, the next time you find yourself exploring through nature with your new Rocktopus Launch Box, we encourage you to recognize the patterns of Sacred Geometry that surround you. With infinite possibilities, how might this world of geometric beauty inspire you?
